Branson Missouri

Monday October 8

Another early morning and on the road this seemed to be a long day today. Most of the day was spent driving along the main road from St Louis to the much smaller town of Branson (253 miles or 407 kms). The town of Branson is situated in what is known as the Bible Belt of America and still in the state of Missouri.
We're on the way to Branson.

The USA flag flys everywhere.

The was not too much of Route 66 today it felt like a long time in the bus. However I think because we had only travelled 102 miles (164 kms) the day before made it seem longer also.
More highway!

Around two hours after setting out this morning there was a three quarter of an hours stop at Walmart (our hostess was spotted with cans of spray paint in her hand and looking for protective gloves.. I suspect she was getting ready for the Cadillac farm! Watching Billy Connelly it seems that paining your “tag” is the tradition when we get to visited these imbedded cars!
Lets go to Branson.

Another couple of hours saw us arrive in Branson where we were given two and a half hours for lunch and look at the many novelty shops before taken to our Motel for the night.
The five and dime store - Branson

Downtown Branson

Not quite as grand as last night but the night seems to be in one of what seems a trillion motels to equal the trillion music shows that seem to be the industry here. Live tribute shows are staged as such theatres as the Hot Hits Theatre, Owens Historical Theatre, Clay Cooper Theatre, God and Country Theatre, Dick Clark’s American Bandstand to name just a few.  It seems to be an entertainment centre of the Midwest.  Most of our group are going to see the Dutton’s show. Apparently this family made the finals of America has talent.

However for us it is a quite night in to catch up with washing and hopefully if the queue is not too long in the laundry and an early night. The blog writing has been very late over the last two or three nights so it is nice to get in early and hopefully have it posted before it gets too late. (reading over last night’s blog I see a couple of changes to be made and obvious that the brain or typing fingers don’t work well that late at night. Also we did not get an opportunity to add some photos of the lovely railway station in St Louis so a chance to add a couple of pictures taken before we left this morning.
And the Lord said......... The bible as found in our room making sure we get the message!

Tomorrow it is on to Oklahoma City (oh so pretty). It is also Graham’s birthday tomorrow which no one is suppose to know about….he is travelling with the wrong group if he thinks he can get away with that one !!!!!
